Iona Liberated Properties liberates real estate by withdrawing homes and commercial porperties from the market indefinitely. In doing so, we connect the (life stories of) inspired users, the intentions of the donors and local communities - creating vibrant places. The residents and/or entrepreneurs make use of and care for the property in freedom. The place serves them in realizing the full development of their ideals.

The earth is our home. As human beings, we are temporarily welcome here to live and work with her. An essential part of this home is a roof over our heads – a safe and free place to live and work. In a free place, there is space for people to grow, to create and to think and act independently. A free place, therefore, contributes to a free human being.

The steward of the place is responsible for its care. Through the steward's dedication, the place can come to life and serve the ideal of the donor and the surrounding community.

The vitality of a place begins with the dream of the donor. Iona Liberated Properties follows the donor's intention as closely as possible.

A place is only free when it is unencumbered - not only financially, but also free of other attached rights, such as rights of way, restrictive covenants etc. If a place is particularly special but still carries encumbrances, Iona Liberated Properties will explore in dialogue wether it can still be brought into the Iona Liberated Properties initiative.

A place has its own character through its location or design. The building itself stands out either by differing from its surroundings or through the history of the place.

The user of the liberated place engages in social activities there that benefit people, animals and spirit alike. The user provides inspiration for others, fostering meaningfull creation and community living.

The steward of the place is given the freedom and responsibility to care for and develop it.
